Planning your stay
How many people can stay at The Hillside Retreat?
The Hillside Retreat on Tamborine Mountain sleeps up to 8 guests across two dwellings. Hillside House sleeps 6 across 3 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms, and Hillside Villa sleeps 2 with its own queen bedroom and bathroom. Booked together, the two connect through an internal door to accommodate a group of 8 across 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
Which should we book, the House or the Villa?
Hillside Villa suits a couple looking for a quiet escape, with its own fireplace, kitchenette and valley views. Hillside House suits families and small groups, with three bedrooms, a full kitchen and a wrap around verandah. For groups larger than 6, book the two together.
Can we book the House and Villa together?
Yes. Booking Hillside House and Hillside Villa together gives your group of up to 8 exclusive use of the whole property, including the pool and spa. Combined bookings are arranged directly with us rather than through the online booking engine, so please email stay@thehillside.com.au or call 0466 990 185 and we’ll help with availability, pricing and any special requests.
Is there a minimum stay?
Yes, we have a 2 night minimum stay across both dwellings.
Are children welcome?
Children of any age are welcome, and children aged 14 and above are considered adults at this property. Cots and extra beds are subject to availability and paid separately during your stay.
The property
Is there a pool and spa?
Yes. The Hillside Retreat has a resort-style inground pool and a spa that is heated year-round, both overlooking the valley to the Gold Coast.
Is the pool and spa a shared facility?
Yes, the pool and heated spa are shared between Hillside House and Hillside Villa guests. If you book the House and Villa together, the pool area is exclusively yours for your stay.
Is there a BBQ?
Yes, both dwellings have their own gas BBQ. Hillside House’s is on the wraparound verandah and Hillside Villa’s is by the private courtyard, so either way you can cook outside with the view.
Is there a fireplace?
Yes, both dwellings have a wood burning fireplace, and firewood and kindling are supplied. Tamborine Mountain evenings are cool for much of the year, so the fires see plenty of use in winter.
Is there WiFi, parking and EV charging?
Yes. WiFi is included throughout the property, there’s free private parking on site, and a 7.3 kW Type 2 EV charger will fully recharge most vehicles overnight.
Are linen and towels provided?
Yes. All beds are made with fresh linen, and bathroom and kitchen towels are supplied in both dwellings. You’ll also find a small welcome treat from us waiting when you arrive.
Are pets allowed?
No, we’re unable to accept pets at The Hillside Retreat. Tamborine Mountain is a wildlife habitat, and our garden is home to a resident koala and abundant birdlife, so we keep the property pet-free.
